Perfect gift for an art-lover or collect a stack of art plates for your dining table, including these by Louise Bourgeois...this fine bone china plate features an image from Bourgeois' 2002 fabric folio, Ode à l'oubli, made over a 6-month period at the beginning of her 9th decade (she worked until aged 99) and now in the Collection of New York's MoMA. Constructing Ode’s linen binding and pages out of 60-year-old, monogrammed hand towels from her 1938 wedding, Bourgeois then cut, arranged, and stitched her own used clothing and textiles to form 32 fabric collages.

Meet Louise Bourgeois One of the key artists of the 20th century, Louise Bourgeois was born in Paris in 1911 and emigrated to New York in 1938, living there until the age of 99. Using the body and its parts as a primary form, including the spider as metaphor for the mother, Bourgeois explored the full range of the human condition, often drawing upon memories and sexuality that gave her work an edge that many found challenging. Her personal obsessions found form ranging from lyrical drawings to enormous installations and achieved a profound universal voice.
