The pattern on these cloth napkins, based on one of Marguerita Mergentime's bold textile designs, is formatted so that four different graphic effects can be achieved depending on how the napkin is folded.

Meet Marguerita Mergentime (1894-41) Marguerita Mergentime was an American textile designer highly regarded for her textile prints in bold colours and patterns created in the 1930's. Working with other key designers, and producing table linens for Macy's and Lord & Taylor in New York, her work enlivened American households, featured in publications nationwide including The New Yorker, House & Garden, House Beautiful and Vogue, and was collected by MoMA and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, among others.
