Small garden scissors that are ideal for both the garden and the home, useful for tasks such as cut flowers, light pruning, cutting herbs and dead-heading. Their traditional round handles are comfortable to hold, allowing for the perfect sensitivity of delicate and accurate cuts, combined with good grip for harder materials. The sharp, precise blades work on softer green stems as well as being strong enough to cut through woodier stems up to the thickness of a pencil.

Cut diagonally across branches, paying attention to the maxiumum cut dimensions, and using the base of the blades for heavier cuts. Do not twist or apply uneven pressure.

Meet Niwaki After completing a degree in Sculpture at London's Slade School of Fine Art, Jake Hobson spent a year working in a Japanese nursery on the outskirts of Osaka, learning the intricacies of old-style Japanese pruning from masters. Returning to the UK he worked in Architectural Plants for a number of years, then, with his Japanese wife, established Niwaki, manufacturing and sourcing Japanese garden tools. Over time other Japanese products have been added to their range. Hobson also runs pruning lectures, workshops and courses across the UK and USA.
